Alex Stewart

    Asheville native Alex Stewart is a classically trained musician equally at home on a variety of woodwind instruments, including oboe, English horn, flutes, and whistles. Alex has been playing the bagpipes for 8 years. He also plays the smallpipes and Uillian pipes, and accompanies the bagpipes on a variety of drums.

    For the last 6 years, Alex has performed regularly with the Piper Jones Band, where he plays percussion, bagpipes, and flute. The band performs across the country at such venues as the Grandfather Mountain Highland games, Houston's famed McGonigel's Mucky Duck, and the Maryland Renaissance Festival. In addition, Alex performs seasonally with Peter Mayer's Stars and Promises Christmas Tour, where he switches between five different instruments.
